Huge 4th Quarter Leads to Eagles Win

west.jpg
Westbrook wins the game

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.  That is what the Eagles had to be thinking after their 33- 25 victory against the old division foe, Washington Redskins.  The Birds outscored the 'Skins 20-10 in the fourth quarter to move there record to 4-5, still last in the NFC East.

Donovan Mcnabb completed 20 of 28 passes for 251 yards and four touchdowns.  Brian Westbrook was easily the game's MVP as he caught two touchdown passes and ran for another score, finishing with 20 carries for 100 yards and five receptions for 83 yards.

The play of the game came on a 57 yard touchdown pass from Mcnabb to Westbrook.  The score came with 3:16 remaining in the game and it was the go-ahead touchdown.  The call was a screen pass.  Westbrook caught the ball and got a huge block from Shawn Andrews and about three other Eagles.  Brian was virtually untouched on his way to the endzone.  Westbrook added another TD with 2:18 to go.

Although the Eagles got that huge play from Westbrook, the Redskins might have loss this game rather than the Birds winning it.  Washington had 11 penalties and Coach Gibbs had some questionable play calling and was horrible with time management.  The 'Skins kept it conservative on a crucial third and goal and had no timeouts left at the end of the game.

Mcnabb answered his critics with an outstanding game (he passed "Jaws" for the most completions in Eagle history).  Both him and Coach Andy Reid had an emotional hug at the end of the game.  Perhaps some of the pressure has been lifted off of both men's backs.  Maybe, the media can lay off of these guys for a while.  The Eagles will take on the Miami Dolphins this week at the Linc.

Things To Watch for This Week:

Can the Eagles win back to back games

Westbrook against a horrible Miami defense

Reid and Mcnabb's press conferences all over the news

Prediction:

Dolphins 17  Eagles 27
